From an early age, I've always appreciated the concept of yearbooks. The idea of being able to preserve memories and reflect on past experiences in a tangible, physical form of a yearbook is something that I have resonated with. So when the opportunity to design a yearbook for the Armenian Sisters Academy presented itself, I jumped at the chance.

Matt Bouloutian, a Tyler School of Art, Graphic and Interactive Design alumni (2001), helped me design the cover and the interior pages. Throughout the project, he provided guidance, inspiration, and valuable feedback I will take with me throughout my time as a designer. It was an awesome experience to see my vision come to life in the pages of the book.

Pattern Pages

I started out with the cover and the pattern pages. Then, throughout that finalizing process, I came up with more and more illustrations to feature throughout the interiors of the book. I really wanted to articulate the style that kids would love and also appeal to the title “Reach for the Stars”, including multiple references to space.

From there, I created a small typographic brand guide for the styles for a few headers, paragraphs and captions in the book. I chose the font Chippewafalls to resemble the essense of the illustrations I brought into the yearbook.
