Over the past year at Kappa Publishing Group, I have been using my skills as a designer to shape the visual identity of our projects through covers of puzzle and activity books as well as layouts for some of our magazines we produce.

I've contributed to numerous successful publications, each one reflecting not only the essence of the content, but my own spin on the design based on my style. My designs prioritize both functionality and aesthetic appeal, ensuring that each piece not only grabs attention but also communicates effectively with our audience. Through collaboration with the creative and editing team, I have gained strong sense of what my company wants from me as a designer.

MAY 2024

Had the opportunity to develop and illustrate the cover of our Games magazine. This magazine features puzzles and activities that can be bought in store or part of a subscription, so many people see it on a month to month basis.

We wanted this one to feature our new puzzle that our editorial team created and have it pronounced and bold on the page. I introduced the idea of a bright neon sign that holds many different adjectives that can catch your eye from a store shelf compared to other bland puzzle magazines.

FEBRUARY 2024

There is usually one main feature per magazine and for the February 2024 issue, there was one about “The Fascinating History of Dominoes” which I got assigned and saw a lot of oppurtunity in typographic and fun elements for.

I wanted to give this layout a modern, but classic twist on the game of dominoes. The second spread features more of the copy and an array of dominoes spread throughout the pages.

Book Covers

Throughout my time at Kappa, I have actively contributed to the redesign of various puzzle and activity book covers. They go through many rounds of editing and approval processes to ensure they are ready for print.

I find great satisfaction in infusing a contemporary flair into these pieces, giving their bold content a more respectable showcase that captivates viewers.
